US Recession Looms In 2007

Weakness in the housing market is likely to push the economy into a recession next year, according to a forecast by the Center for Economic and Policy Research.

“Recession Looms for the U.S. Economy in 2007,” by economist Dean Baker, predicts that the economic recovery that began in November 2001 will come to an end in 2007. “This recovery has been fueled by a housing bubble, just as the late 90s cycle was fueled by a stock bubble,” said Baker.

“Now that the housing market has weakened, Americans are looking at a recession in 2007.” Baker expects that the weakness from the housing market, which is already spreading over to other sectors of the economy, will have an even larger impact in 2007 as consumers lose the ability to borrow against dwindling home equity. With weak consumer demand dampening investment, the economy is likely to shrink by close to 1 percentage point over the course of the year.

Personal note: Sigh. Another recession in the US & it's going to affect the whole world. See. 2007 is a very critical year to watch for. Who knows God will delay but who knows God might just come for us? Will it be a snare for a lot of people? Will the good times end? I guess so cos the economy goes in cycles. A recession is due already in 2007. But if we survive the downturn, 2008 & beyond are better years. But I am not so optimistic as to the future. Not for the earth's inhabitants but for heaven's inhabitants. We don't belong here. Earth is only temporary but one day it also will be renewed when Jesus comes again & it's soon, very soon.

I am living in exciting yet challenging times. I am suffering a lot now but who knows what the future holds. Seems so very lonely. Sigh. How long more Lord? Pls come quickly Jesus!
