EU's Solana calls Mideast peace agreement by end of 2007

European Union chief diplomat Javier Solana and Egyptian Foreign Minister Ahmed Abul-Gheit in Cairo have called on Israel and the Palestinians to reach a peace agreement by the end of 2007. During the short visit by Solana to Egypt, both ministers also called on the United States to aim for progress in the conflict by the end of the year, as the time before the 2008 elections acted as a 'window' of opportunity in which the parties to the conflict could find agreement on fundamental issues. Solana said that the region needed to reach an 'end of the game.' Solana, who earlier also met Egyptian President Hosni Mubarak, is to continue his tour in Israel, the Palestinian territories and Jordan.

Personal note: Yes, as i have always noted that 2007 could indeed be the year that the rapture occurs. Javier Solana is a man that so resembles the Antichrist but we can never confirm who until the rapture occurs and the Holy Spirit takes all believers away from earth into the clouds. Then all hell will break loose but it will be quite mild during the early tribulation years and many will be deceived by the Antichrist, who will probably come up with a good explanation for the rapture. Yes, the 'end of the game' as God is also ending the grace age to start a new age. Look out for 2007. The peace convenant as prophesied in the bible could occur by then or end of the year as Solana said.

Peace process: Solana Affronted By Peace Wall

Javier Solana, the High Representative for the European Common, Foreign and Security Policy met with the King of the Ammonites today, Abdullah II. Solana will meet with Israeli leaders later tonight on the final leg of his four day visit to the region. During his meeting with Abdullah, Solana said that now was the time to push the peace process forward, and that the EU favoured a "final status solution" between Israel and the Palestinians.

Quote: ""We think there is an opportunity now, an opportunity we should not let go of," Solana told reporters following talks with Jordan's King Abdullah II in the capital city Amman. Solana departed for Israel, the last leg in a Mideast tour that included stops in the West Bank and Egypt. Commenting on the stalemate in Israeli-Palestinian negotiations, Solana said, "It's been taking too long a time; the situation has not evolved, the peace process has not evolved, but we think this is the moment to give it a push and to see if we can put it back on track."

During his visit to the Palestinian territories, the High Representative also said he was shocked at the extent of the West Bank barrier, the peace wall that has saved possibly hundreds of innocent lives from Palestinian attacks, and the growth of Israeli settlements in the disputed territory. He urged Israel to stop building the wall and put an end to the housing developments.

Quote: "Solana said he was struck during a tour on Saturday of Arab towns on Jerusalem's eastern slopes that lie within West Bank land by the growth of settlements and a barrier cutting into land that Palestinians want for a state. "I had the opportunity to make a tour along the eastern part of Jerusalem and go to Abu Dis and its surroundings. You get really very shocked every time you go and you see the situation worse, the wall is more extended and settlements are more extended," Solana told reporters in Amman.

The question is, why in Solana's eyes is Israel only to blame for the erection of the peace wall? Why is the situation "worse", now that hundreds of lives have been saved in the prevention of terrorists breaching the border of Israel in order to kill Jews? Solana did urge the Israeli government no so long ago to ease the "oppression" of the Palestinian people by making it easier for them to cross into Israel. He received a scolding response from former Shimon Peres, who said Israel's first and foremost responsibility was to their own people, and Hamas were to blame for the situation. Belfast has had peace walls for years, but nobody ever complains that their freedoms are being restricted or that they are being oppressed. When peace comes, walls should theoretically come down, but to call for walls to come down while war is being waged against innocent civilians is complete lunacy, in any part of the world. I believe the walls will eventually come down though, possibly shortly before Russia and her Arab allies invade.

Ezekiel 38:10-12Thus saith the Lord GOD; It shall also come to pass, that at the same time shall things come into thy (Gog) mind, and thou shalt think an evil thought: And thou shalt say, I will go up to the land of unwalled villages (Israel); I will go to them that are at rest, that dwell safely, all of them dwelling without walls, and having neither bars nor gates, To take a spoil, and to take a prey; to turn thine hand upon the desolate places that are now inhabited, and upon the people that are gathered out of the nations, which have gotten cattle and goods, that dwell in the midst of the land.

Personal note: Yes, the walls will indeed come down. Perhaps Solana is the Antichrist someday and will call for the tearing down of the wall as a condition for the peace covenant between Israel and Arabs. Like what the writer said above, before the Gog-Magog war, the walls are already torn down but not before the rapture. Many writers place the Gog-Magog war after the rapture in the early trib period. America would have been severely weakened with so many Christians gone and won't be able to defend Israel. That's why Russia and allies take the opportunity to attack and destroy Israel once for all but God will intervene and destroy them instead.

14 "Therefore, son of man, prophesy and say to Gog, 'Thus says the Lord God: "On that day when My people Israel dwell safely, will you not know it? 15 Then you will come from your place out of the far north, you and many peoples with you, all of them riding on horses, a great company and a mighty army. 16 You will come up against My people Israel like a cloud, to cover the land. Then they shall know that I am the Lord." '

Iranians report ‘radiant UFO’

A UFO omitting a “yellow ray” has been seen across Western Iran, the Fars News Agency claimed in a report recently. “Witnesses told FNA (Fars News Agency) that the object has been observed for more than an hour,” the report said, adding: “In a similar incident last Monday, an Unidentified Flying Object was witnessed in the same area and at the same time.” According to eye witnesses, “the UFO has been as big as a ball, with a yellow ray and a bright reddish color in the center. They also stated that the object has been flying at a very low altitude.” The FNA said Iranian officials declined to comment. The Iranian news outlet also reported a UFO “crashing” last Wednesday, “in Barrez Mounts in the central province of Kerman.” “Deputy Governor General of Kerman province Abulghassem Nasrollahi told FNA that the crash, which was followed by an explosion and a thick spiral of smoke, has caused no casualties or damage to properties,” the report said, adding: “He further denied earlier reports that the explosion has been the result of a plane or chopper crash, reminding that all the passing aircrafts have been reported as sound and safe.” Iranian authorities were investigating the crash, described by witnesses as an explosion “caused as a result of the crash of a radiant unidentified flying object onto the ground. ” “Meantime, an informed source told FNA that the object has been on fire and there has been thick smoke coming out of it prior to the crash, concluding that the object couldn’t have been a meteor as meteors do not smoke,” the article said. It added: “The source also said that the crash has been witnessed by people in several cities, and mentioned that the rendezvous point was located 100 kilometers from the provincial capital city of Kerman . He said that people in the city of Rafsanjan also reported to have witnessed a similar incident several days ago.”

Personal note: Signs in the sky and a pickup at that with UFOs happening in many places like USA. Does the satanic and heavenly forces know the time is at hand and the rapture is going to happen soon? Strange that they should be appearing over US and Iran, now they are in war rhetoric. Could something ominous happen soon to US and Iran? My speculation is that US won't be able to attack Iran and the rapture happens before this war, leaving Israel to stand alone. With so many people gone from US, it will fall as a superpower and EU is going to take its place. Then Israel will have to rely on the EU beast and Antichrist for peace. See how it might all fall into place but these are just my speculations? I pray I and everyone can be raptured but only God knows who are worthy. I pray for mercy.

Some Americans Expect Jesus' Second Coming in 2007

One in four Americans anticipates the second coming of Christ in 2007. This is one several predictions made by Americans in a recent poll for the new year.

A poll by Ipsos, an international polling firm, found that 11 percent of respondents said it is "very likely" that Jesus will return to Earth this year and 14 percent said it was "somewhat likely."Among white evangelical Christians, 46 percent said it's at least somewhat likely that Jesus will return in 2007 compared to 17 percent of Catholics and 10 percent of those with no religion.

Overall, 25 percent said it was "not too likely" that Jesus will make his second coming this year and 42 percent said it was "not at all likely."Other predictions Americans made for the new year included another terrorist attack and another major natural disaster within the United States, according to the Associated Press. The majority of respondents also expect worsening global warming and that a biological or nuclear weapon will be unleashed elsewhere in the world.

At the same time, a minority of Americans think the U.S. will go to war with Iran or North Korea over the countries' nuclear ambitions. Only 29 percent of the people think it is likely that the U.S. will withdraw its troops from Iraq and 35 percent predict the military draft will be reinstated. The poll also found that the majority of Americans thinks Congress will raise the federal minimum wage. One third also sees hope for a cure to cancer.

Personal Note: I notice a huge percentage (42%) that says Jesus is not at all likely to come in 2007. This is the blindness and apathy that the end times people are in. At least if they were watching the events unfold, they could have a warning that Jesus is at least likely to come in 2007 with so much in store to happen. A possible ME war with Iran etc, resurgence of bird flu, disaster in Iraq, Israel preparing for war with Hizbollah, Syria and Iran and war in Gaza and so on. The end times will catch many people unawares and people are living their lives as usual before they are suddenly hit with destruction like a birth pang. At least only 29% sees that US is likely to retreat from Iraq. This shows the war on terror is going to be very long term and so with the rebuilding of Iraq. Many soldiers will be lost with Islamists pledging to send them back in coffins. The world situation is not getting better. Iran might produce the first nuke by Mar 2007 or at least possess nuclear capability by then. Aircraft carriers have been sent to the seas off Iran to prove that US is not to be trifled with and hints of a possible war with Iran to take out the nuclear facilities. Rumours have been coming out of Israel that they are going to nuke Iran although they deny it. How much worse could the world get and how much more dangerous? How much more things to happen before more people are convinced that bible prophecy is coming true and God is real and alive and Jesus is coming very soon? I pray all will repent before too late.

Iranian TV Special - The Mahdi Could Return This Spring - Iran Preparing For Apocalyptic War With The U.S.

The New Year may not be so happy if Iranian leaders have their way. The Islamic Messiah known as the "Twelfth Imam" or the "Mahdi" may come to earth in 2007 and could be revealed to the world as early as the Spring Equinox, reports an official Iranian government news website. The Islamic Republic of Iran Broadcasting (IRIB) website says the world is now in its "last days." It claims that the Mahdi will first appear in Mecca, and then Medina. He will conquer all of Arabia, Syria, Iraq, destroy Israel, and then set up a "global government" based in Iraq, interestingly enough, not Iran. Such Islamic eschatology (end times theology) is driving the Iranian regime and helps explains why Iran has no interest in helping the U.S. and E.U. create peace in Iraq or the region, much less in ending its bid for nuclear weapons, the Iraq Study Group Report notwithstanding.

Anticipation of the imminent arrival or "illumination" of the Islamic Messiah has been steadily intensifying inside Iran since Mahmoud Ahmadinejad emerged as president of the country in June of 2005. A television series on IRIB called "The World Towards Illumination" has been running since last November to help answer the many questions Iranians have about the end of the world as we know it. The series explains the signs of the last days and what to expect when the Islamic Messiah arrives. The program also says that Jesus is coming back to earth soon as a Shiite Muslim leader and it denounces "born again Christians" for supporting "the illegal Zionist state of Israel." An Israeli news site was the first to pick up the story and its significance to Israeli national security, noting that the Mahdi will soon "form an army to defeat Islam's enemies in a series of apocalyptic battles" and "will overcome his archvillain in Jerusalem."

Some intelligence analysts are growing concerned by Ahmadinejad's announced plans "to hold the big celebration of Iran's full nuclearization in the current year." Iran's calendar year ends on March 20, which is the usual date of the Spring Equinox. Is Ahmadinejad signaling that Iran will have nuclear weapons by then? Is he suggesting that an apocalyptic war to annihilate Jews and Christians in Israel and the U.S. and could come in 2007, perhaps as early as this spring or summer? It is not yet clear, though Ahmadinejad today vowed to "humiliate" the U.S. and continues to vow that Israel to "vanish" soon.

Personal Note: Is this it? I pray for Jesus to come quickly. Iran won't be able to annihilate the Jews or Americans. It will be annihilated instead. Refer Ezek 38. The Mahdi could be the Antichrist and the false Jesus could be the false prophet. But all this could take place only early in the tribulation when all the Christians are raptured already. So are you prepared? If you are a Christian, are you still loving the world like sinners? If anyone loves the world, the love of the Father is not in him. Come back to God. God loves you. Are you a non-believer? There isn't much time left. Come to God thru Jesus. There is no money to pay or sacrifice to make to believe in Jesus, just repent of your sins. Salvation is free by God's grace. I pray God's grace will come to you. Why hold on to this world that is temporal when there is a better world to come which is eternal? It won't be the end of this world but the beginning of a new much better one where everyone will live in peace. Jesus loves you and that's why He died for you. No matter who you are or what you have done, He still loves you, just don't reject Him. There isn't much time before the rapture. Even if there is no rapture, are you ready for the tribulation? Israel has plans for nuclear strike on Iran: paper

LONDON (Reuters) -

Israel has drawn up secret plans to destroy Iran's uranium enrichment facilities with tactical nuclear weapons, Britain's Sunday Times newspaper said.

Citing what it said were several Israeli military sources, the paper said two Israeli air force squadrons had been training to blow up an enrichment plant in Natanz using low-yield nuclear "bunker busters."

Two other sites, a heavy water plant at Arak and a uranium conversion plant at Isfahan, would be targeted with conventional bombs, the Sunday Times said.

Personal Note: I believe Iran's nuclear facilities will be destroyed, nuclear or not in my heart. Israel is bound to act alone if America doesnt agree to help bcos the existence of the Jewish state is at stake here. I believe this will somehow trigger or lead to the Gog-Magog battle. Great shall be the fall of Iran & Russia & allies! We shall pray for these peoples that many will come to Christ before too late. Don't wait till this prophecy is fulfilled before you believe cos it might also be too late as the rapture might have happened before this. You could just miss it by a bit. Only Christians who are born again can be raptured up. This event might happen in the early tribulation period according to some people. So don't wait. Accept Jesus now!

Israel has plans for Iranian strike

Britain's Sunday Times newspaper has revealed that Israel has concrete plans for dealing with Iran's nuclear facilities, and is already training pilots for the 2000 mile mission. Nuclear weapons would be used in the strike, to ensure the complete destruction of the plants which are heavily fortified and buried deep underground. Russia has just completed around half its shipment of anti-aircraft missiles for the purpose of defending Iran's nuclear installations, despite the UN sanctions against their nuclear programme. The Israeli intelligence service, Mossad, believes Iran is around two years away from obtaining enough enriched Uranium to manufacture a nuclear warhead.

Quote: "The attack would be the first with nuclear weapons since 1945, when the United States dropped atomic bombs on Hiroshima and Nagasaki. The Israeli weapons would each have a force equivalent to one-fifteenth of the Hiroshima bomb. Under the plans, conventional laser-guided bombs would open “tunnels” into the targets. “Mini-nukes” would then immediately be fired into a plant at Natanz, exploding deep underground to reduce the risk of radioactive fallout. “As soon as the green light is given, it will be one mission, one strike and the Iranian nuclear project will be demolished,” said one of the sources.

Some have predicted that such a strike would be carried out in March of this year, for this is the date Ahmadinejad has declared Iran's nuclear facilities will be completed by. Iran has reacted angrily to the news of the Israeli plans, and has stated any actions carried out against the country will cause the Israelis deep regret. Israel has stated the nuclear weapons will only be used to take out Iranian targets if the US does not intervene in the situation. As someone once told me before, now that the Democrats have control of the Senate and Congress, it is doubtful whether America will have the political resolve to come to Israel's aid. Russia and China aren't going to be too pleased when their nuclear plants in Iran come crashing down, and Israel won't be too pleased if they loose any pilots due to Russian-made missile systems and Chinese opposition to hard-line sanctions against Teheran. The result of all this is, it's becoming easier and easier to see how the Gog Magog war as described in Ezekiel 38-39 will eventually unfold.

Israel is going to nuke Iran? Gog-Magog?

Yes, latest news i read on http://rapturealert.blogspot.com. For more info, pls click link and go read there. It's on today latest! This is in response to Iran building nuclear weapons in its underground bunkers. Israel has to destroy Iran's nuclear facilities but the bunkers are hard to attack using conventional bombs.

As I said before, 2007 looks like a very interesting year to me. So much has happened. Will the rapture happen by this year or next? Has God's patience finally run out? When you see all these things happening (like the rebirth of Israel & the recapture of Jerusalem), know that the end is nigh! Israel was reborn on 1948 so adding 40 years (generation in bible) is 1988 which has passed and gone. Jerusalem was recaptured on 1967 so similarly adding 40 yrs = 2007! See? God is always on the dot according to His promise. I believe time for the end has come. The window of time frame can be from 2007 - 2037 (1967+70). 70 years is another measure of an adult's life span in biblical times (see Psalms 90). Could this be it?

We need to be part of EU and NATO

In my very first political science lecture in the Hebrew University in the early 1980s, I was taught that international politics were governed by State interests. In all my years in Israeli politics and as a third-time minister, I have yet to see this theory implemented in Israel.

I believe it was Henry Kissinger who once said that Israel has no foreign policy, only domestic. The sad reality of today is that the State of Israel has never defined, and rarely acted in accordance with its national interests. The few examples I can think of include Israel going to war over the Egyptian nationalization of the Suez Canal and restriction of Israeli marine traffic in 1956, the 1981 attack against the Iraqi nuclear facility and the 1995 peace agreement with the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan.

I have recently suggested that it is in Israel's national interest to join the European Union and the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO). The world today is a less hospitable place to our democracy. The second half of the twentieth century witnessed a world divided over economic doctrines and political thought. I myself was born in Moldova, a country taken over by the Soviet Union in 1944, and spent my childhood under the rule of a harsh totalitarian regime (until my family made aliya in 1978, when I was 20 years old).

Personal note: Could this be positioning Israel for the the peace covenant with the Antichrist who most probably will come out of EU? EU & NATO are playing a big role now in the Middle East. There are seven major prophetic signs of the Second Coming, and for the first time in history all seven are in some stage of fulfillment. As in years past, I'll list the seven with their primary biblical references and offer commentary from current events.

1. Israel Will Be In The Land... Ezekiel 38:8
After many days you will be called to arms. In future years you will invade a land that has recovered from war, whose people were gathered from many nations to the mountains of Israel, which had long been desolate. They had been brought out from the nations, and now all of them live in safety.

In 1948, when Israel took its place among the nations of the world again for the first time in nearly 2000 years, students of prophecy recognized the fulfillment of the primary sign that the end of the age was upon us. Jesus had said that the generation being born when that happened would still be alive when He returned (Matt. 24:34).

The fulfillment of this prophecy caused another reaction as well. Satan reads prophecy too, and began exerting his influence on world leaders in his continuing effort to thwart the plan of God. As a result, Israel has fought six major wars in the last 58 years, each of them an attempt to erase the Jewish Homeland from the face of the Earth. And it's clear that this effort will continue, with the biggest battle of all looming on the horizon, foretold by Ezekiel in chapters 38-39. Israel's enemies, both physical and spiritual, won't let up until they've either succeeded (their view) or been destroyed (God's view).

But in abandoning their Gaza settlements last year, and with their inconclusive performance against Hezbollah this summer, it seems to many as if the Israelis have become their own worst enemy. In Gaza, the plan was to free the military from having to protect the settlements (a major commitment) while maintaining control of their borders. But turning part of their border security over to Egypt has been a disaster, permitting the Palestinians to smuggle in tons of weapons, ammunition and explosives from the Sinai (courtesy of Syria and Iran) and fire more mortars and missiles into Israel than ever before.

Although US and Israeli leaders promised that abandoning Gaza would improve the nation's security, the opposite has happened. And as those opposed to the abandonment predicted, Gaza has become a major center for terrorist activity. When Hamas won the Palestinian elections they quickly turned Gaza into an armed camp. Now Hamas appears to be just as dangerous a threat as Hezbollah and Israel seems to be caught between two forces powerful enough to make defeat a distinct possibility.

But the God of Israel sees a different outcome. "I will bring back my exiled people Israel; they will rebuild the ruined cities and live in them. They will plant vineyards and drink their wine; they will make gardens and eat their fruit. I will plant Israel in their own land, never again to be uprooted from the land I have given them," says the LORD your God. (Amos 9:14-15)

Iran website heralding 'Mahdi' by springtime

State media: Shiite messiah to kill archenemy in Jerusalem, may arrive during next equinox

An official state media website in Iran has posted a message heralding the coming of the Shiite messianic figure, Imam Mahdi, noting he could arrive with Jesus by the spring equinox.

"Imam Mahdi (may God hasten his reappearance) will appear all of a sudden on the world scene with a voice from the skies announcing his reappearance at the holy Ka'ba in Mecca," the message says.

The Islamic Republic of Iran broadcasting website said in a program called "The World toward Illumination," that the Mahdi will form an army to defeat the enemies of Islam in a series of apocalyptic battles, in which the Mahdi will overcome his archvillain in Jerusalem.

The Mahdi's far sightedness and firmness in the face of mischievous elements will strike awe. After his uprising from Mecca all of Arabia will be submit to him and then other parts of the world as he marches upon Iraq and established his seat of global government in the city of Kufa.

Then the Imam will send 10 thousand of his forces to the east and west to uproot the oppressors. At this time God will facilitate things for him and lands will come under his control one after the other. ...

After his appearance the Imam would remain in Mecca for some time, and then go to Medina. ... a descendant of the Prophet's archenemy Abu Sofyan will seize Syria and attack Iraq and the Hejaz with the ferocity of a beast ... finally Imam Mahdi sends troops who kill the Sofyani in Beit ol-Moqaddas (Jerusalem), the Islamic holy city in Palestine that is currently under occupation of the Zionists.

Personal note: This is not the Saviour of the world but the Antichrist! How similar to the Antichrist as prophesied in the bible & the 7 year apocalypse. I think as i have mentioned before that 2007 is indeed a prophetic year. They said their saviour Mahdi is coming by spring & I think the rapture is going to happen soon. I hope everybody can make it but if I can't or anyone who isn't a Christian can't, we might have to face persecution & beheading by satanic followers of the Mahdi. Unless we cave in which I won't bcos what profit does a man get if he gains the whole world but loses his own soul? 2007-2013 Tribulation now?

We are told plainly in Scripture not to set dates for Christ's Second Coming, and we are given several reasons for that. Firstly, no man knows the day or hour of Christ's return, nor the angels in heaven, but the Father only. Those are the words of the Son of God, and yet men continue to try and set dates for Christ's return. Why?

Mark 13:32-33 But of that day and that hour knoweth no man, no, not the angels which are in heaven, neither the Son, but the Father. Take ye heed, watch and pray: for ye know not when the time is.

Acts 1:6-7 When they therefore were come together, they asked of him, saying, Lord, wilt thou at this time restore again the kingdom to Israel? And he said unto them, It is not for you to know the times or the seasons, which the Father hath put in his own power.

Secondly, because we are not told the day and hour of Christ's return, it behoves us to watch and be ready at all times. This principle is laid out in several of Christ's parables, of the five wise and foolish virgins, and again in the parable of the wise steward. If we knew the time of Christ's coming we might be inclined to grow cold, forgetting what Christ originally commanded us to do which was to "occupy till I come", Luke 19:13, not "occupy when I come". Like Christ, we must work "while it is day" (John 9:4), and always be doing our Father's business (Luke 2:49).

Luke 12:45-46But and if that servant say in his heart, My lord delayeth his coming; and shall begin to beat the menservants and maidens, and to eat and drink, and to be drunken; The lord of that servant will come in a day when he looketh not for him, and at an hour when he is not aware, and will cut him in sunder, and will appoint him his portion with the unbelievers.

With that said, we must be extremely careful when it comes to prophecy. The Lord has a unique sense of timing, and sometimes like Abraham, anticipation can give way to haste, and soon we start planning our lives around prophecies we have created in our imaginations, instead of relying on God to fulfil His will. I know, I have done that with some promises God gave me, and I made a mess of things. If prophecy encourages me to keep looking up, if it encourages me to long for Christ's coming again, for which every believer is promised a special reward (2nd Timothy 4:8), then prophecy is profitable. But if I start relying on prophecy being fulfilled when I want it to be fulfilled, instead of relying on God, then we have gone too far.

But over one third of the Bible is prophetic material, and the Lord does encourage us to study into prophecy. 1st Peter 1:12 states that even the angels desired to look into the things that were revealed to the prophets regarding the death and resurrection of Christ, and when Moses and Elijah were with Christ on the mount, they too were intrigued by the events that were soon to follow (Luke 9:31). Revelation is also the only book of our Bible where a special blessing is promised to those who read it (Revelation 1:3), yet it is one of the most neglected books in our Bible today.

Jesus derided the Jewish leaders for their failure to recognise the Messiah. They missed His first coming, because they didn't know their Old Testament prophecy.

Luke 12:56 Ye hypocrites, ye can discern the face of the sky and of the earth; but how is it that ye do not discern this time?

Is it possible we could be making the same mistake they did? The Rapture of the Church used to be one of the most preached-on topics, now it is rarely mentioned. What are the signs Jesus gave that would show us when His coming was near? Jesus told his disciples a parable of the fig tree to illustrate when they would know His coming was near.

Matthew 24:32-34 Now learn a parable of the fig tree; When his branch is yet tender, and putteth forth leaves, ye know that summer is nigh: So likewise ye, when ye shall see all these things, know that it is near, even at the doors. Verily I say unto you, This generation shall not pass, till all these things be fulfilled.

The fig tree, of course, is a spiritual picture of Israel. We have seen Israel literally blossom in these "last days". From 1948, when Israel declared independence, to 1967, when Jerusalem saw the end of over 2500 years of Gentile rule.

Hosea 9:10 I found Israel like grapes in the wilderness; I saw your fathers as the firstripe in the fig tree at her first time: but they went to Baalpeor, and separated themselves unto that shame; and their abominations were according as they loved.

But what promise did God make to the generation that would see Israel reborn? That generation shall not pass until all these things are fulfilled. Friends, we are the generation that has seen Israel reborn, and Jerusalem's captivity ended. Therefore we know, without setting dates, that the Lord's coming is near at hand, and now is the time to get right with God.

I say all that before giving you the following information, for I don't know for certain whether the period from 2007 to 2013 will mark the tribulation period or not, and that you would know why I can never know that. But a lot of prophecy is being fulfilled, and even though the Lord could delay His coming if that was His will, the years 2007 to 2013 seem to be coming up again and again in the news media as prophetically significant. I will briefly list some of those reasons...

Antichrist: Iran state media predicts coming of Mahdi

Iran state media is broadcasting predictions of the soon return of the Mahdi, the 12th Imam or the Islamic Messiah. Some Islamic sources state that the Mahdi may come during a Spring equinox. The Mahdi was believed to have disappeared several centuries ago, but is expected to reappear in the end times to conquer the world for Allah. The reappearance of the Mahdi has been predicted several times by President Ahmadinejad of Iran, who is actively preparing his people and the nation for his arrival. At the start of this year, sources close to Ahmadinejad stated they believed the coming of the Mahdi was as close as a few years away. Part of Iran's preparation for the Mahdi includes the development of nuclear weapons, enabling Iran to become a powerful force in the Middle East and defeat the enemies of Islam (namely Israel).

Muslims believe that the Mahdi will return with the Prophet Jesus as his "Lieutenant", who will kill Dajjal (the Muslim Antichrist) and rule over Jerusalem for a period of seven years. This Prophet Jesus will then kill the pig and break the cross until Islam is the only religion left. After 40 years the Prophet Jesus will die and be laid to rest beside Mohammed.
